Sara Buffamanti is a teacher and coach for actors, corporate and non-for profit professionals. She is currently on faculty at Fordham University and the Strasberg Institute at NYU. Formerly, she was a member of the Drama Faculty at LaGuardia High School for Music & Art and Performing Arts (a.k.a. the “Fame” school). Sara also taught in the MFA program at Columbia University and at St. Francis College. She received her BFA in Acting from the University of California at Santa Barbara and her MFA in Acting from Columbia University in 2005. Sara is practitioner of Kristin Linklater's vocal pedagogy and is a Designated Linklater Teacher.
As an actress, Sara’s work has been seen at the Metropolitan Opera, New York Theater Workshop, The Public, BAM, PS 122, HERE Arts Center, Dixon Place, the Bushwick Starr, Target Margin, the Incubator Arts Project, Noor Theater and Queens Theater. She has performed internationally in Europe, Japan, Korea and throughout Southeast Asia. Sara was a company member of Performance Lab 115.
Sara’s professional practice includes vocal and movement coaching at Barnard College, LaGuardia High School, Springfield Shakespeare Festival, Tokyo University and Queens Theater. Additionally, she has served as a consultant for the Yale School of Drama, Julliard and other institutions with a desire to integrate inclusive practices for disabled students into their existing training programs and infrastructures. She also teaches on-going workshops and classes at the Linklater Center in New York City.
Sara is a proud voice workshop facilitator for The Obama Foundation Scholars program at Columbia University, which “gives rising leaders from around the world who are already making a difference in their communities the opportunity to take their work to the next level”. Sara also provides individualized corporate coaching focused on improving ones ability to speak with clarity, passion and intention.
